About Multispec+
- Pharmacy compounding is a high-risk, labor-intensive and stressful process. Intravenous medications are associated with the greatest occurrence of potential adverse drug events and life-threatening errors. In particular, potential errors involving the preparation of patient-specific chemotherapy doses are of great concern to pharmacy staff worldwide.
- Positioned at the end of the preparation process, the Multispec+ spectrometer offers a unique measure of quality assurance and safety, helping pharmacy staff to provide the highest quality of care by scientifically determining the contents of compounded medications.
- From a 1ml sample of a compounded admixture, the Multispec+ spectrometer first blindly analyzes the spectral signature, in both IR visible and UV ranges, and compares it with its built-in signature library to identify the drugs and diluents contained in the admixture. The actual concentration is then determined using corresponding calibration equations.
- These two concomitant steps take less than 70 seconds to display and compare qualitative and quantitative results of the analysis with the prescription, making the Multispec+ technology compatible with the demanding workflow of busy pharmacy compounding units.
- As pharmacists face the challenges of strict regulation, labor shortage, patient safety and liability, the Multispec+ brings peace of mind.
